Lutein (FloraGLO®) & Zeaxanthin (OPTISHARP® Natural) 100mg (equivalent to 20mg free-form lutein & 4mg free-form zeaxanthin), Haematococcus pluvialis Microalgae Extract (AstaReal®) 80mg (equivalent to 4mg natural astaxanthin), Blackcurrant Extract (> 35% Anthocyanins) 10mg, Krill Oil (Superba2TM) 100mg, Vitamin E 10mg, Zinc (from yeast) 9mg, Copper (from yeast) 600mcg.

Other ingredients: Olive oil, glycerol esters of fatty acids, beeswax

No wheat, gluten, milk derivative, preservatives, artificial colouring or flavouring. Safe and free of heavy metals.

Extracted from marigold flowers, FloraGLO Lutein provides the same free lutein found in fruits and vegetables. Unlike lutein esters which have to be converted to free lutein prior to absorption, resulting in lower bioavailability (J Am Coll Nutr 29(6): 575-585 (2010)), FloraGLO lutein is free-form and is directly absorbed and utilised by the body.

OPTISHARP Natural Zeaxanthin is a natural dietary zeaxanthin, extracted from marigold flowers. Similar to FloraGLO Lutein, it is a free-form zeaxanthin which is easily absorbed and utilised by the body; unlike esterified zeaxanthin found in some supplements which require conversion to a simpler form and are hence, less efficiently absorbed.

AstaReal® is natural astaxanthin produced by fresh-water microalgae known as Haematococcus pluvialis. The first indoor production facility was established in Gustavsberg, Sweden, where AstaReal® became the first company in the world to commercially produce natural astaxanthin from microalgae in the early 1990s. The AstaReal Group together with their parent company Fuji Chemical Industries Co., Ltd. are world leaders in research based natural astaxanthin health products.
In nature, astaxanthin is produced by the algae Haematococcus and accumulate in the muscles of krill, salmon, lobster and other pink seafood which consume the algae, which is why they have a pink hue.

The omega-3 in krill oil is bound to phospholipid, making it well tolerated by most consumers, unlike triglyceride-based omega-3 in fish oil that tends to float on the stomach fluids and may frequently results in unpleasant fishy burps.

Recommended dosage: 1 softgel daily, preferably after meal. For severe vision conditions, you may take up to two softgels daily (one in the morning and one at night after meals).
Caution: This product contains crustaceans. Please exercise caution if you are allergic to shellfish. Dietary supplements are not a substitute for a healthy diet. If you are pregnant, nursing or taking any medication, please consult your physician before consuming any supplements.

1. How does LABO VisionREGAIN protect eyes against blue light?
Our eyes are constantly exposed to blue light emitted from digital devices. Overexposure to high energy blue light can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina which can lead to permanent vision loss. Macular pigment which composed of lutein and zeaxanthin helps absorb and filter blue light before it reaches the retina.

VisionREGAIN contains FloraGLO® Lutein and OPTISHARP® Natural Zeaxanthin, both have been shown to increase macular pigment optical density (MPOD). Incorporating the proprietary Liposomal Encapsulation Technology, the absorption of FloraGLO® Lutein by the body cells is enhanced by up to 8 times for more intensive protection.

2. Does VisionREGAIN have any other benefits?
In additional to protecting against blue light, ingredients in VisionREGAIN work synergistically to support eye health by:
• Helping to reduce eye strain, dry eyes and glare sensitivity
• Supporting healthy eye functions in contrast sensitivity, visual acuity and speed of visual processing
• Protecting eyes against UV rays and oxidative damage
• Supporting healthy eye pressure and blood circulation in eyes
• Replenishing macular pigment to help reduce risk of age-related eye conditions
Besides vision health, VisionREGAIN also supports healthy brain function and maintains youthful-looking, hydrated and elastic skin.

3. What makes VisionREGAIN superior to other eye supplements?
VisionREGAIN is a natural formula made from the most clinically studied brands of eye health micronutrients – FloraGLO® Lutein, OPTISHARP® Natural Zeaxanthin, AstaReal® Astaxanthin, Black Currant Extract and Superba2TM Krill Oil - in functional dose to protect, preserve and promote super vision health. In particular, it is developed with a proprietary liposomal encapsulation technology that enhances its absorption by up to 8 times to enable the eye to utilise these nutrients efficiently for intensive vision protection.

4. Who is VisionREGAIN recommended for?
Macular carotenoid pigments lutein and zeaxanthin are essential for supporting vision health. Since your body is unable to produce them naturally, dietary intake is the only option. However, getting adequate amounts of these eye nutrients through food to protect against blue light is challenging. With one VisionREGAIN softgel being equivalent to 10 cups of broccoli, it is easy and convenient to replenish these essential nutrients maximally and effectively.

5. How long do I have to take VisionREGAIN to see positive results?
It may take a few days to experience improved vision performance and relief from eye strain and dry eyes. However, results may vary between individuals. Long-term intake of VisionREGAIN is safe and highly recommended to protect and maintain good eye health.

6. Where are the ingredients sourced from, can nursing mothers and pregnant women consume VisionREGAIN?
All the active ingredients of VisionREGAIN are natural and highly safe. Lutein and zeaxanthin are extracted from marigold flowers; astaxanthin is organically produced by fresh-water microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis and anthocyanins is found in blackcurrant extract. Krill oil is extracted exclusively from an Antarctic krill species Euphausia superba while zinc and copper are bound to yeast.

There are no known side effects, except if one is allergic to shellfish. Discontinue use and seek advice from your physician of any adverse reactions such as allergic reaction. Please note that dietary supplements are not a substitute for a healthy diet. If you are pregnant, nursing or taking any medication, please consult your physician before consuming any supplements.

7. How should I take VisionREGAIN?
The recommended dosage is one softgel daily, preferably taken after a meal. Each softgel contains a functional dose of key nutrients, hence, one a day is sufficient to defend your eyes against blue light when taken consistently.

8. I eat a healthy diet, do I still need VisionREGAIN?
Most people’s diets do not include food rich in lutein, zeaxanthin, astaxanthin, anthocyanin and omega-3, the vital nutrients that help protect and improve eye health and hence may not get the nourishment for their eyes even though they eat a balanced diet. The comprehensive formulation of VisionREGAIN with these essential eye nutrients helps ensure optimal vision and eye health even in your senior years.

9. I am taking multivitamins, do I still need VisionREGAIN?
Multivitamins are useful for overall health, but most contain little (0.25 – 3mg) to no lutein and zeaxanthin. Clinical research recommends at least 10mg of lutein and 2mg of zeaxanthin daily to protect and maintain optimal eye health and there is dose-response relationship based on individual’s needs. VisionREGAIN contains these vital eye nutrients in functional dose plus other antioxidants and omega-3, ensuring your eyes get complete protection.

10. Does VisionREGAIN require a prescription?
No, VisionREGAIN is a natural supplement, not a medication so no prescription is required.

11. Can I take VisionREGAIN while I am on medication?
Yes, you can. However, do keep a 1-2-hour gap between VisionREGAIN and medication to ensure that the efficacy of VisionREGAIN is not compromised.

Scientifically Proven Benefits of Key Ingredients

1) Reduces eye strain due to prolonged use of digital device

Study 1: In this clinical trial, VDT (visual display terminal) workers were given 9mg astaxanthin daily for 4 weeks and resulted in significantly higher accommodation ability compared to placebo group. Accommodation is the ability of the eye to change its focus from distant to near objects and vice versa.

Astaxanthin improved accommodation ability

Study 2: In this clinical trial, healthy subjects (aged 24 - 51) were given 50 mg black currant anthocyanin and resulted in lowering of the dark adaptation threshold. In another test, healthy subjects (aged 20 – 25) were given 50 mg BCA and no decrease in the average refraction values, but a large decrease in placebo trial was observed after a video display terminal (VDT) work.

Black currant anthocyanin lowers dark adaptation threshold

Black currant anthocyanin helps prevent VDT work-induced transient refractive alteration

2) Improves MPOD and vision

Study 1: In this clinical trial, healthy subjects (mean age 23.9) were given 10mg DSM Lutein and 2mg OPTISHARP Zeaxanthin daily for 6 months and assessed at baseline, 1, 2, 4 and 6 months. Daily supplementation of lutein and zeaxanthin for 4 to 6 months significantly improved visual performance in glare for most subjects.

Lutein & zeaxanthin decreases glare disability

3) Improves blood circulation in eyes

Study 1: In this clinical trial, healthy volunteers were given 12mg astaxanthin over a 4-week period. Compared to baseline, a significant increase was observed for macular square blur rate (SBR) ̶ a quantitative index of relative blood flow velocity. This suggests that administration of astaxanthin over a 4-week period can increase choroidal blood flow velocity.

4) May help reduce risk of age-related eye conditions

Lutein is a component of macular pigment, essential whereas DHA is a physiologically-essential nutrient on the retina and is important for vision clarity. Lutein and DHA together may protect against age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Study 1: Women (aged 60 – 80) were given lutein (12 mg/day plus ~0.5mg Zeaxanthin, FloraGLO), DHA (800 mg/day) or lutein (12 mg/day) + DHA (800 mg/day) supplement for 4 months. Results showed Lutein supplementation increased macular pigment optical density (MPOD) eccentrically. DHA resulted in central increases. Lutein and DHA may help prevent Age-related Macular Degeneration.

Lutein + DHA supplementation increases serum lutein concentration

DHA supplementation increases serum DHA concentration

DHA increases MPOD at the most central locus (0.4o)

Study 2: In this clinical trial, subjects with AMD (aged 55 – 80) were given daily oral tablets containing 80mg zinc and 2mg copper. There was a remarkable odds reduction in the development of advanced AMD and visual acuity loss with the supplementation of zinc and copper.

Zinc and copper reduce probability of advanced AMD

Zinc and copper reduce probability of visual acuity loss

Study 3: In this clinical trial, patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG) were given 50 mg anthocyanins extracted from black currant once a day for 6 months. Anthocyanins increased the blood flows at both neuroretinal rim of the optic nerve head and peripapillary retina, and decreased intraocular pressure. Besides, anthocyanins increased, and thus normalised the concentrations of plasma ET-1.

Anthocyanins improve eye circulation of normal tension glaucoma subjects

Anthocyanins decrease intraocular pressure (IOP) of normal tension glaucoma subjects

Anthocyanins normalise plasma ET-1 concentration of normal tension glaucoma subjects

Other Scientifically Proven Benefits of Lutein:

1. Improves visual adaptability

Supplementation of 12mg lutein and zeaxanthin for 6 to 12 months significantly increases macular pigment optical density (MPOD). This improves transient glare disability and helps reduce photostress recovery time1,2.

2. Improves visual processing

Supplementation of lutein and zeaxanthin increases visual processing speed by 20%, and this significantly improves driving safety, reading speed, athletic performance and cognitive performance3.

3. Relieves visual fatigue

Supplementation of a combination of lutein, zeaxanthin and blackcurrant extract (after the subjects completed visual proof reading tasks for 2 hours) helps reduce symptoms of visual fatigue and stress scores caused by frequent eye use4.

4. Reduces risk of cataract

Cataract is the main cause of blindness among people over the age of 40 in Asia. Dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthin reduces the risk of nuclear cataracts by 25%5. The underlying mechanism is related to the antioxidant properties of lutein in removing peroxides, hydroxyl radicals, lipofuscin and protecting cell membranes from UV and blue lights.

5. Reduces risk of advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

Macular degeneration is the main cause of blindness in the elderly over the age of 60. Compared with the control group, the experimental group’s intake of 10mg FloraGLO Lutein plus 2mg zeaxanthin helps reduce the risk of developing advanced AMD by 25%6.

6. Beneficial to intellectual ability Macular pigment (lutein molecule in retina) affects intellectual ability. Based on Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test, subjects with higher macular pigment density obviously have better intelligence7.

7. Beneficial to cognitive function

Supplementation of lutein and zeaxanthin helps maintain cognitive function and slows the rate of deterioration8. Another study showed that higher blood lutein concentration reduces risk of all-cause dementia and Alzheimer's disease by 20% and 24% respectively9.

8. Reduces risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases

Higher intake of lutein or higher blood lutein concentration helps to10

  • Reduce risk of coronary heart disease by 12%
  • Reduce risk of stroke by 18%
  • Reduce risk of metabolic syndrome (a type of health problem includes obese, abnormal blood pressure, glucose and lipids) by 25%

The underlying mechanism is suggested to be related to antioxidant and anti-inflammation effects of lutein. These two factors are one of the main causes of cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.

9. Delays skin ageing

Supplementation of lutein and zeaxanthin helps improve overall skin tone and brightness and increase minimal erythema dose, which may have skin-lightening-improving effects11.

The underlying mechanism is related to antioxidant properties and photo protective activity of lutein and zeaxanthin in reducing melanin formation and light damage.

10. Helps prevent cancer

A study found that a higher plasma concentration of carotenoids (including lutein) reduces the risk of prostate cancer by 55%12. Another study on women also demonstrated that women who consume more dietary lutein have reduced risk of ovarian cancer13. These two studies confirmed the excellent anti-cancer properties of lutein.

Blue light is the most likely to make a person squint his eyes due to discomfort. Squinting can lead to eye strain, eye fatigue and tension headaches.

How to protect eyes from the harmful effects of blue light?
Lutein and zeaxanthin are the only nutrients deposited specifically into the eyes to help filter harmful blue light. Both are the major constituents of macular pigment, a compound concentrated in the macula region of the retina, responsible for visual acuity. The higher the density of macular pigment, the more protection you have against damaging light.

Macular pigment optical density (MPOD) is important for 4 specific reasons:
1. Macular pigment absorbs harmful blue light before it reaches the retina, protecting photoreceptors in the retina from damage.

2. Macular pigment contains strong antioxidants which help to neutralise free radicals generated by blue and UV lights.

3. Low macular pigment is a primary risk factor for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness in the elderly.

4. Macular pigment improves vision functions, including:

  • Visual acuity – ability to see clearly
  • Contrast sensitivity – ability to distinguish objects from their background
  • Light sensitivity – visual discomfort when exposed to bright light or sunlight
  • Glare recovery – recovery from temporary “blindness” caused by high intensity lighting

Do your eyes often feel dry, irritated and tired?

Blue Light is Everywhere.
You Can’t Avoid it but You Can be Protected!

Blue light is very bad for eyes, overexposure can negatively impact vision and lead to vision problems. Virtually all sources of light - natural or artificial, emit blue light. It is present in sunlight, indoor lighting and digital devices such as laptop, television, mobile phone and tablets.

Why is Blue Light Bad for Eyes?

Blue light is harmful to eyes and has significantly higher energy than green, yellow or red lights. Excessive exposure can cause discomfort to the eyes in the short term.
Prolonged exposure over long periods can potentially overwork the retina (a layer at the back of the eyeball that contains light-sensitive cells called photoreceptors) to produce excessive free radicals which damage the retina and eventually results in eye conditions. Damaged photoreceptor neurons cannot be repaired or regenerated.

Symptoms of Blue Light Damage

Natural Protection Against Light-induced Damage

The eye’s natural macular pigment comprising namely Lutein and Zeaxanthin are responsible for visual acuity and protecting eye against harmful lights. However, blue light is not easily filtered out of the eye. A high Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD) is required to provide higher level of protection for the eyes. As Lutein and Zeaxanthin are not produced naturally in the body, there is a need to replenish these nutrients with foods or dietary supplements to keep the eye in tip top condition.

VisionREGAIN -
Intensive Vision Protection for the Digital Age

VisionREGAIN is a superior formula made with the most researched, world-leading brands of lutein and zeaxanthin. Formulated in functional dosage using a proprietary Liposomal Encapsulation Technology that increases the bioavailability of FloraGLO Lutein by up to 8 times, it provides a strong protection against damage by blue light, preserves eye health and supports good vision.

The Unmatched Ingredients of VisionREGAIN

In addition to its highly bioavailable free-form FloraGLO lutein, a Proprietary Liposomal Encapsulation Technology further maximises the absorption of lutein in VisionREGAIN by up to 8X higher than uncoated lutein in other vision supplements.

The fat-soluble FloraGLO lutein is encapsulated in sphere-shaped vesicles of phospholipid bilayers called Liposomes and is further stabilised by astaxanthin, another superior ingredient of VisionREGAIN. Liposomal-encapsulated lutein is well-protected against destruction by stomach acid and enzymes. The liposomes act as a carrier to transport lutein into intestinal cells more efficiently, thereby increasing its absorption and bioavailability.

Most Clinically Studied FloraGLO Lutein and
OPTISHARP Natural Zeaxanthin

VisionREGAIN contains functional dose of FloraGLO Lutein and OPTISHARP Natural Zeaxanthin. Unlike other esterified lutein and zeaxanthin that require conversion to a simpler form, FloraGLO Lutein and OPTISHARP Natural Zeaxanthin are both free-form and easily absorbed and utilised by the body.

Hailed as the internal sunglasses for eyes, they help enhance visual performance and defend eyes against overexposure of blue light. Both potent antioxidants also protect the retina from cumulative damage and oxidative stress which are responsible for the onset of age-related eye conditions.

Replenishing the body with these eye-loving nutrients helps to enforce a robust, protective "shield" for the eyes and help reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Although dark leafy vegetables like spinach, kale or broccoli are the best dietary sources of lutein and zeaxanthin, studies show supplementing one’s diet with lutein and of zeaxanthin daily is clinically proven to increase macular pigment, provide eye health benefits and improve visual performance. However, getting these amounts through foods is incredibly challenging.

Highly recommended for individuals who:

  • Use digital devices regularly or are regularly exposed to UV rays
  • Experience eye strain such as dry eyes, eye fatigue, blurred vision and headaches
  • Have poor vision functions:
  • poor glare recovery
  • low contrast sensitivity
  • reduced retinal sensitivity
  • poor accommodation (ability to adjust eye lens to see near and far objects clearly)
  • poor dark adaptation
  • poor visual acuity
  • Experience frequent eye inflammation, tearing, redness
  • Have age-related vision concerns

Scientifically Proven Benefits of
Key Ingredients of VisionREGAIN

1) Reduces eye strain due to prolonged use of digital device
Study 1:
Working on visual display terminals (VDT) reportedly induces various eye problems. In this clinical trial, VDT workers were given 5mg Astaxanthin daily for 4 weeks and their eye strain symptoms were reduced.

Study 2:
In this clinical trial, healthy participants were given 12mg astaxanthin daily for 4 weeks. Results showed Astaxanthin significantly shortened far-to-near refocussing time.

2) Protect retinal cells against oxidative stress
In this test, the protective effect of FloraGLO Lutein and OPTISHARP Natural Zeaxanthin against photo-oxidative damage to retinal pigment epithelial cells (RPE) was investigated. Lutein and zeaxanthin reduced retinal oxidative damage by absorbing harmful light and quenching reactive oxygen-containing compounds.

3) Replenishes MPOD and supports healthy vision
Study 1:
In this clinical trial, subjects with healthy vision, central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) or age-related macular degeneration (AMD) were given a supplement containing 6mg FloraGLO Lutein daily for 1 year. Lutein supplementation improved visual functions where significant increases in the contrast sensitivity were observed at 1 year.

Study 2:
In this clinical trial, healthy subjects (mean age 23.9) were given 10mg FloraGLO Lutein and 2mg OPTISHARP Natural Zeaxanthin daily for 6 months and assessed at baseline, 1, 2, 4 and 6 months. Daily supplementation of lutein and zeaxanthin for 4 to 6 months significantly increased macular pigment optical density (MPOD) and improves visual performance in glare for most subjects.

4) Supports healthy blood circulation in eyes
Study 1:
In this clinical trial, healthy subjects were given 6mg AstaReal astaxanthin daily for 4 weeks and retinal blood flow was found to be significantly higher in the astaxanthin group than in the placebo group.

5) Reduces eye redness
Study 1:

Test subjects were induced with inflammation by injection of 200μg LPS and immediately injected intravenously with AstaReal Astaxanthin. Results showed AstaReal Astaxanthin suppressed uveitis (eye inflammation) by inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway.

6) May help reduce risk of age-related eye conditions

Study 1:
In this clinical trial, patients with early age-related macular degeneration (AMD) were given 12mg FloraGLO lutein and 280mg DHA daily for 1 year. Results showed Lutein and DHA supplementation increased MPOD and may help in preventing AMD.

Study 2:
Presbyopia is an age-related vision condition that results in difficulty with near vision work, reading or writing. This may be due to the functional deterioration of several internal parts of the eye including the pupillae muscles. In this clinical trial, male subjects (mean age 53.9) were given 6mg AstaReal Astaxanthin for 4 weeks. Their pupillary constriction ratio (as a function of accommodation) and subjective symptoms were improved after the supplementation.
