In this test, the inhibitory rate of collagen and elastin breakdown was compared between MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides and dipeptides proline-hydroxyproline (Pro-Hyp) and hydroxyproline-glycine (Hyp-Gly), as well as NNGH (collagenase inhibitor), which acts as a positive control. MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides suppressed collagenase and elastase activity, while neither dipeptides showed any collagenase inhibitory activity. These findings suggest the potential protective effects of MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides against decreased skin elasticity and wrinkle formation.
In addition, MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides demonstrated inhibitory effects on neutrophil elastase, which is an enzyme that contribute to extracellular matrix damage induced by long-term UV exposure, accelerating wrinkle formation. Meanwhile, dipeptides Pro-Hyp and Gly-Hyp showed low inhibitory effects. These findings suggest the beneficial effects of MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides in protecting against wrinkle formation.
In this study, 10 women in 20s to 50s were orally administered 5,000 mg MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides daily for 8 weeks and the skin condition was monitored before taking, after 4 weeks and 8 weeks of administration. In addition, a questionnaire about their skin conditions was conducted after the test. After taking MCP-EX Marine Collagen Peptides for 8 weeks, all the subjects showed an improvement to the wrinkles. The maximum depth, average depth, maximum width, and number of wrinkles were decreased by 24%, 17%, 12% and 33%, respectively.
