Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about UTRestore

  • UTRestore combines D-mannose and green tea extract standardized with 70% EGCG to eliminate UTI risks naturally.

This comprehensive formula provides multi-targeted defense by effectively blocking harmful bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract linings. Furthermore, it actively breaks up protective bacterial biofilms—which commonly shield bacteria from traditional treatments—and systematically weakens localized pathogenic colonies.

  • UTIs frequently recur because surviving bacteria build structural biofilms or develop defensive antibiotic resistance.

UTRestore functions as an ideal therapeutic companion that safely complements antibiotic treatments by disrupting these defensive biofilms. Because bacteria cannot build resistance to natural D-mannose and EGCG, the formula remains consistently effective. Additionally, the D-mannose acts as a premium intestinal prebiotic, nurturing beneficial flora to naturally suppress E. coli—the primary pathogen responsible for urinary tract infections.

  • Your dosage depends on whether you are managing an active infection or maintaining daily protection.

    • General Prevention: Take 3 capsules (1 serving) once daily with plenty of water.
    • Active UTI Management: Take 3 capsules (1 serving) three times daily. Continue this intensive protocol until active symptoms ease, then return to the standard daily serving to minimize your recurrence risk.
  • Clinical trials confirm that D-mannose offers superior therapeutic value compared to standard cranberry products.

Published medical reviews indicate that commercial cranberry juice is largely ineffective at preventing bladder infections and can worsen risks due to its elevated sugar profiles. Conversely, modern clinical data confirms that pure D-mannose successfully manages urinary pathways with results comparable to antibiotic prevention. Peer-reviewed studies verify that D-mannose dynamically reduces overall infection counts, extends UTI-free recurrence periods, and rapidly helps relieve acute urinary symptoms.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Study 1:

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common infections among women, with cystitis being the most common. E. coli bacteria are responsible for more than 85% of UTI cases. D-mannose (a simple sugar) hinder the adhesion of bacteria to the uroepithelial cells (cells lining urinary tract), which the bacteria are then flushed to outside the body via urination, hindering occurrence of UTIs.

In this clinical trial, women who had acute cystitis (bladder inflammation) and/or history of recurrent UTIs were orally administered D-mannose (1.5 g) twice daily for 3 days and then once daily for 10 days. Compared to baseline, D-mannose resulted in significant improvement of the majority of symptoms, positive effect on UTIs' resolution and improvement of quality of life. Additionally, the administration of D-mannose for 6 months (as prevention) showed promising results in reducing the risk of recurrence. These findings suggest the effectiveness of D-mannose in treating acute UTIs in women and managing its recurrences.

Study 2:
The biofilm-forming ability of E. coli would lead to antibiotic resistance, causing recurrent and chronic UTIs. This is because biofilm forms a protective layer around bacteria, causing the bacteria to evade antibiotic attack. Amyloid fibres (which are formed by curli subunits) are important component of the biofilm matrix. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is the most abundant polyphenol in green tea, is a potent antibiofilm agent.

In this study, macrocolony biofilms of E. coli were grown for 5 days on congo red-containing salt-free LB plates in the absence or presence of EGCG at different concentrations or green tea. Staining with congo red is commonly used for identification of amyloids in vitro. EGCG is shown to virtually eliminates the biofilm matrix by directly interfering with the assembly of curli subunits into amyloid fibres. Besides, it reduces the expression of CsgD, which is a crucial activator of curli biosynthesis. These findings suggest EGCG as a potential adjuvant for antibiotic therapy of biofilm-associated UTIs.

Study 3:
There are several types of catechins present in green tea, with EGCG and EGC have the greatest antimicrobial effects. Meanwhile, EGCG has the most bactericidal (bacteria killing) activity.

In this study, different concentrations of green tea extract, which are 0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 mg/ml were tested on E. coli that cause UTI. All the E. coli strains tested, except one, had minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of ≤4.0 mg/ml (99%), with 94% of the isolates having an MIC of ≤3.5 mg/ml, 76% of the isolates having an MIC of ≤3.0 mg/ml, 40% of the isolates having an MIC of ≤2.5 mg/ml. These findings suggest the efficacy of green tea extract as a potential antimicrobial agent against UTIs caused by E. coli.

Bladder health

Overactive bladder (OAB) means the bladder contracts before it is full or when one is not ready. This is commonly caused by fibrosis of the bladder, which leads to the loss of normal muscle contractility. As a result, this causes sudden urges to urinate that may be hard to control. Besides, it also causes the need to pass urine many times during the day and night, as well as urgency incontinence. OAB is positively associated with metabolic syndrome, menopause and ovarian hormone deficiency.

In this study, the protective effect of EGCG (10 umol/kg/day) on bladder overactivity caused by metabolic syndrome and ovarian hormone deficiency was investigated. Rats were fed with high fat high sugar (HFHS) diet to induce metabolic syndrome (Mets) and/or received ovariectomy surgery (OVX) to deprive ovarian hormone.

The rats developed Mets and OAB by dieting with HFHS for 6 months. Additionally, Mets and OVX deteriorated bladder storage dysfunction more profound than Mets alone. Additionally, both groups of rats showed over-expression of inflammatory and fibrosis markers compared to control. Pre-treatment of EGCG alleviated bladder storage dysfunction, and protected the bladders from interstitial fibrosis changes. Compared to control, Mets exacerbates bladder apoptosis, enhances oxidative stress markers and mitochondrial enzyme complexes. Meanwhile, pretreatment with EGCG alleviated bladder apoptosis, attenuated oxidative stress, and reduced the mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum apoptotic signals. These findings suggest the beneficial effects of EGCG in reducing the generation of oxidative stress and lessening bladder overactivity.

Vaginal Health

An overgrowth of the Candida can cause a vaginal yeast infection, which the symptoms include intense itchiness and burning sensation of the vagina, as well as vaginal discharge. The biofilm-forming Candida albicans yeast is reported as the predominant pathogen responsible for up to 90% of vaginal infection. This infection affects up to 3 out of 4 women at some point in their lifetimes. EGCG, which is a major polyphenol is green tea, has been reported to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans and enhance the antifungal activity of antifungal medications.

In this study, minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of EGCG and antifungal medications (miconazole, fluconazole and amphotericin B) against planktonic (free floating) and biofilms of Candida (Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata, Candida kefyr and Candida krusei) were determined. All biofilm Candida cells were significantly more resistant to EGCG and antifungal medications, compared with their planktonic counterparts. Synergism was observed between EGCG and miconazole, fluconazole or amphotericin B against most test planktonic and biofilm cells of Candida species. These findings suggest EGCG enhances the antifungal effects of miconazole, fluconazole and amphotericin B. Combined treatment with EGCG may lower the dosages of antifungal medications, thus preventing adverse effects and the emergence of drug-resistant Candida species (Arch Oral Biol. 60(10):1565-1570 (2015)).

Uterus Health
Study 1:

Uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous growth in the uterus, affect 70% of reproductive-age women. EGCG is suggested to help shrink uterine fibroids and reduce symptom severity.

In this clinical trial, reproductive-age women (age 18-50 years) with symptomatic uterine fibroid and had at least one fibroid lesion 2 cm or larger were orally administered with either 800 mg of green tea extract (45% EGCG) or placebo (800 mg of brown rice) daily for 4 months. The UF volumes were measured at the end and the fibroid-specific symptom severity were scored at each monthly visit. In the placebo group, fibroid volume increased (24.3%) over the study period. However, patients orally administered with green tea extract showed significant reduction (32.6%) in total uterine fibroid volume. Compared to placebo group, EGCG treatment significantly reduced fibroid-specific symptom severity (32.4%) and induced significant improvement in health-related quality of life (18.53%). Anemia also significantly improved by 0.7 g/dL in the EGCG treatment group, while average blood loss significantly decreased from 71 mL/month to 45 mL/month. These findings suggest EGCG as a promising approach for women with symptomatic uterine fibroids.

EGCG helps shrink uterine fibroid volume

Study 2:
Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. This condition can lead to severe pain in the pelvis. Angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) and blood transfusion (blood flow) are important factors for endometrial growth. EGCG is suggested to be an effective approach in the management of endometriosis.
In this study, the effects of EGEG on activation by estradiol (E(2)), proliferation and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression of isolated hamster endometrial stromal cells and glandular cells was investigated in vitro. Besides, hamsters with induced endometriotic lesions were treated for 14 days with EGCG or control and their angiogenesis, blood perfusion and tissue integrity of both endometriotic lesions and ovarian follicles were determined. EGCG suppressed E(2)-stimulated activation, proliferation and VEGF expression of endometrial cells in vitro. Furthermore, EGCG selectively inhibited angiogenesis and blood perfusion of endometriotic lesions in vivo without affecting blood vessel development in ovarian follicles. Additionally, EGCG treatment induces regression of the endometriotic lesions. These findings suggest EGCG as a promising agent in the management of endometriosis and reducing the risk of establishment of new endometriotic lesions (Hum Reprod. 23(10):2308-2318 (2008)).

Prostate health
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate enlargement in a common condition in elderly man. Among the symptoms are difficulty urinating and a sudden urge to urinate. Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation play important roles in BPH. EGCG, an important polyphenol is green tea, helps suppress BPH by attenuating prostatic oxidative stress and inflammatory response.

In this study, rat model of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) accompanied with metabolic syndrome was induced by high-fat diet for 12 weeks combined with testosterone injection (10 mg/kg/d) from 9th to 12th weeks. EGCG was orally administered from 9th to 12th weeks. The levels of glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, prostate weight, insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), inflammatory cytokines, antioxidant enzymes, and prostatic expression of IGF binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) and peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (PPARs) were determined. Administration of EGCG significantly decreased the levels of glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, IGFs, and inflammatory cytokines, normalized the activities of antioxidant enzymes, as well as increased the prostatic expression of IGFBP-3 and PPARs. IGFBP-3 and PPARs may help reduce prostate size in BPH. These findings suggest the anti-BPH activities of EGCG in metabolic syndrome subjects (Environ Toxicol Pharmacol. 45:315-320 (2016)).

While pharmaceuticals can provide fast relief, they often lead to recurring urinary issues, unwanted side effects, and resistance over time. In fact, 25% of women experience a recurrence within 6 months.

UTRestore binds to E. coli and other discomfort-causing strains, preventing their adherence to the urinary tract walls and flushing them out. Its powerful antimicrobial properties reduce recurrence risk and disrupt the bacteria’s resistance layer.
