Studies show that the number of good bacteria in the intestine is vital in maintaining one's digestive system and health status. About 70% of our immune cells are in the intestines, therefore, it is vital to ensure a high level of good bacteria in order to maintain good digestion and overall health. The use of antibiotics and vaccinations early on in a person’s life will most likely reduce the diversity of the intestinal flora (bacteria). This reduction is not likely to recover without any intervention; making one prone to infections, allergies, autoimmunity and obesity in the later stage of life. Hence, maintaining a good gut flora balance is the first step to achieving good health.
