Hair follicles grow in repeated cycles. Existing hair follicles undergo phases of Growth (anagen), Transitional (catagen) and Rest (telogen).
•Growth Phase (Anagen Phase)
Approximately 80-90% of your hair is in the growing phase, which varies from two to six years. Hair grows approximately 1cm for every 28 days. During this phrase, hair bulb produces hair pigments, and blood supplies nutrients and minerals to hair follicles for hair growth.
• Transitional Phase (Catagen Phase)
During this phase, hairs will detach from the blood supply. The detached follicles will slowly shrink to about 1/6 its size. Approximately 2-3 % of your hair will be in this phase which lasts for 2-3 weeks.
• Resting Phrase (Telogen Phrase)
